ORGANIZATION
Organization Sørensen Advocaten
Sørensen Advocaten focuses entirely on employment law and corporate law – not a general practice, but one clear specialisation. Our office in Rotterdam works in a solution-focused, practical way with short lines of communication: you speak directly with the lawyer who knows your file. Transparent rates, a close-knit team and mediation where that is the fastest route.

Why one specialisation
Employment law and corporate law constantly overlap in practice: a merger, transfer of undertaking, director dismissal or reorganisation touches both fields at once. By focusing on that combination, you don't need to switch between firms.
You speak directly with the lawyer who knows your file. Short lines of communication, clear explanations and no unnecessary jargon – that is what clients expect from us and what we deliver.
Office in Rotterdam, active nationwide
Our office is located at Turfweg 75 in Rotterdam. We handle proceedings, advice and negotiations throughout the Netherlands. Many of our clients are regional and national companies; some operate internationally. Several team members advise in English whenever that fits your organisation or contracts.
Partnership structure
Sørensen Advocaten operates from a partnership of specialised practice companies. You engage a single point of contact with access to the full team and the right specialist for each topic.
Within that partnership, Lemon Legal B.V. and Lanser advocatuur, among others, work alongside our partners – physically at the same address, with a shared quality standard.
Team and expertise
Get to know our team. Partners Yvonne Sørensen, Harry Voermans and Claudia Janssen lead the practice; associates, of counsel and support staff complete the team.
Litigation experience, negotiation and MfN mediation go hand in hand with us. Where a conflict escalates, we switch quickly between advice, mediation and – if necessary – proceedings.
Who we work for
Employers, scale-ups, family businesses, hospitals, hospitality businesses, international groups, directors and professionals engage us.
Whether you are an HR director, an owner-director, a shareholder or an employee with a complex question: we start with your goal and translate it into a workable legal route.
Rates and transparency
We discuss fees and costs in advance. No surprises afterwards – we align scope, planning and invoicing at intake.
More detail is on the rates page. Our general terms and conditions set out the basis of the engagement.
Approach: from intake to result
A matter starts with a brief inventory: facts, parties, urgency and desired outcome. After that you get a clear next step – advice, a draft letter, negotiation, mediation or proceedings.
We document what is needed for the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV), the works council, the subdistrict court or a business counterparty. You keep a single legal point of contact from strategy through to signature or hearing.
Mediation and dispute management
Mediation is not a side note for us. Several of our lawyers are qualified MfN mediators. In employment conflicts, shareholder disputes or contract disputes, we take an honest look at whether mediation fits – faster, confidential and often better for the relationship than proceedings.
Read more on mediation.
Social engagement
We contribute to professional literature, courses and community initiatives. Partners publish columns and case annotations; team members are active in specialisation associations.
More: social engagement.
Availability and first contact
You can reach us via contact or by phone on +31 10 2492 444. We schedule an introduction at the office or online where needed. In urgent matters we try to respond the same working day – certainly for deadlines relating to objections, summary proceedings or works council advice.
Quality and registration
Our lawyers are registered with the Netherlands Bar Association (Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten). Practice-area registration and specialisation associations (including VRAA, VAAN, VBR) underline our focus.
Complaints are handled under our complaints procedure; privacy matters are set out in our privacy policy.
What you can expect from us
Practical advice you can actually act on. No thick reports that disappear into a drawer – instead, documents, letters and strategy that fit your organisation.
Commercial thinking wherever possible, firm litigation wherever necessary. That is the organization behind Sørensen Advocaten.
International clients
Expats, international groups and English-speaking directors find advisers with us who work in Dutch and English.
Contracts, proceedings and board meetings can be prepared in English when that fits.
Vacancies and growth
We invest in young talent through working students and internships. Vacancies are listed on the vacancies page whenever we are looking for reinforcement.
A close-knit team with a mix of experience and fresh perspective supports our specialisation.
Rotterdam and accessibility
The office on the Turfweg is easily accessible by car and public transport. Appointments at the office are scheduled by arrangement; much of the intake can also be done by phone or video call.
We provide directions and parking tips when scheduling an appointment via contact.
Introduction meeting
Want to know whether we are a good fit for your question? Schedule an introduction – brief, no-obligation, with a clear explanation of next steps and costs.
Call +31 10 2492 444 or email via the contact form.
Working with advisers
We regularly work with HR advisers, tax specialists, notaries and accountants. You keep a single legal point of contact; we coordinate with your other advisers whenever that is efficient.
That applies to reorganisations, transactions and complex disputes.
Continuity and quality
Specialisation means you don't have to explain what a works council advisory right or a transition payment is – we already know the context.
Current legislation, case law and practical experience are part of our daily work – not an annual refresher course.
History and trust
Sørensen Advocaten grew out of specialised practices in Rotterdam. Our partners bring experience from both large and boutique firms – combined in one close-knit team at a single address.
Clients who want a fixed lawyer rather than a rotating junior appreciate that mix of gravitas and accessibility.
You are welcome for an introduction meeting – we will discuss concretely who would handle your file and how we work.
Approach and quality
Fixed points of contact, short lines of communication and realistic planning. We communicate clearly about progress, costs and next steps – no surprises afterwards on the invoice.
Client-focused approach
Clients value accessibility, clear agreements and lawyers who know the practice – not just the theory. That is how we work, day in, day out.
