The cabinet has announced that the fixed travel-expense allowance may continue to be paid until 1 February 2021, even where employees are working (almost) entirely from home due to the coronavirus. This means the fixed travel-expense allowance can continue to be paid as if the employee were still incurring travel costs. The fixed travel-expense allowance can, in any case, continue to be reimbursed tax-free until 1 February, provided it concerns a fixed allowance already granted by the employer before 13 March 2020. The cabinet will announce shortly what will happen to the tax-free fixed travel-expense allowance after 1 February 2021.
