We previously wrote that a fixed travel-expense allowance could continue to be paid until 1 February 2021, even where employees were working (almost) entirely from home. This has now been extended to 1 April 2021. Existing fixed travel-expense allowances can still be paid tax-free by the employer. The condition is that the fixed travel-expense allowance was already being granted by the employer before 13 March 2020.
